You all know I have two mommies. But you may not know that I really have a way with *all* the ladies. Who knows how I will turn out (my moms like to tell me that all options are open), but if my early days are any indication, I'm going to be a lady killer for sure. I had an inkling of this early on, but my recent trip to a lady-packed Dolores Park (more on that below) solidified this sentiment.
Since you last heard from me, I have continued to pack on the pounds (ok, ounces, but work with me here) and add some height to my lean frame. I hit the one-month mark weighing 10.9 lbs and measuring 22 inches long. In a cruel twist of fate, just as I really started to feel like I had my mojo, my hair started going. I've got some awesome male-pattern baldness at the moment. Oddly enough, I still have the "long" hair at the back of my head, giving me a rather stellar "skullet." ( I refused photo documentation of this hair phenomenon)
My social calendar has been pretty full (thanks, MOMS!), but the highlight FOR SURE was my inaugural dyke march. WOOHOOO! I didn't actually march (or even hang out in the stroller or sling while my moms marched)...something about my bedtime being too early, but damn did it look like fun!
And I got to meet up with some really cool ladies, and one particularly cool little guy named Eli. I had heard lots about this guy (he's a whole month older than I am), but our first official rendez vous was on the hill of Dolores Park, surrounded by the ladies. Eli and I have become fast friends -- since our first encounter, we've hung out with our moms (all FOUR of them!) at the Half Moon Bay Brewery and kicked it on the 4th of July (holy fireworks!).
In addition to hanging with Mr. Eli, I also got to meet a really big kid, Owen. Owen's mommy, Jessica, is like a big sister to my Mama. Jessica's family and Mama's family lived together in Italy and in England when Mama was a kid. Though I don't really believe it, Jessica said something about Mama and her brothers tieing Jessica to a tree when she used to baby sit them. No way. Owen and I got to hang out in the garden, where I pretty much just slept, and Owen picked some tomatoes and pretended to water the plants.
While donning my patriotic colors, I celebrated the 4th of July with a whole slew of peeps. First was some QT in the garden with Pamela and Bill (they live upstairs), then a bbq at Opp's, then we trekked up to the old 'hood to grill it up with Eric and Liane. Eric is a serious grill-master; he MADE HIS OWN HOT DOGS! Hello?! And the brisket he made? Forget about it! Eli and I hung out, spit up, cried a little, and generally kept the ladies entertained.
My holiday weekend is just winding down, concluding with a most excellent bbq with Abby and Brent (nice job on those fish tacos, Brent!). My moms were worried that between Abby and Dustin, I might never make it home, but they somehow managed to hang on to me (something about Dustin and Abby not wanting to wake up in the middle of the night to feed me).
Coming up... a visit from Hoddy and Tiny Mit; pictures from my first "professional" photo shoot; play date with my baby boy crew---Aaron, Jasper and Kieran; dinner date with Jen and Craig, and who knows what other adventures might unfold! stay tuned...
