Tomorrow I board my first plane for NEW YORK CITY! I've hit the big time, folks, and there's no turning back now... It's been a relatively mellow week leading up to our east coast adventures. And by "mellow" I mean I've met 15 new people instead of 500, one of those people being the new Director of Democracy for our very own President Obama (side note---Mama tells me that I was in utero (whatever that means) when she went down to Nevada to work with Election Protection in November. I know I can't vote for a long time, but I'm pretty darn sure I would have voted for Obama!). ANYWAY, among other celebrity introductions this past week, I also got to meet the good people of Bingham McCutchen (including superstar Nancy Lum), AND Mr. Henry Kim. Henry's got a few months on me, but man does he have a fantastic head! I look like a pea-head next to him!!
Anyway, here's a re-cap of the events.
First up was my visit to meet Mr. Henry Kim. His dad and my mama have offices next door to each other. Henry is THE MAN! He can do pretty much everything that I want to be able to do, including holding up his (rather large) head, walking around in some bouncy contraption, holding his own bottle, eating food that comes in a form other than liquid, and generally mastering all those big boy skills. Some day I'll get there.
A couple of days after my rendez vous with Mr. Henry, I made my Bingham debut. My silly moms forgot to take a picture of my outfit, but it was pretty hilarious. Henry's dad got me this awesome Bob Marley onesie that says "B is for Bob" on it. Well, "Bob" is also the name of Mama's boss, so of COURSE we had to do something with that onesie. My friend, Andrew Obach, printed out a picture of Boss Bob's face, and my moms taped it over Bob Marley's face on the onesie. Boss Bob thought it was pretty hilarious. So did I. While at Bingham I also got to hang out with Nancy Lum, who keeps my Mama in line when she's at work. Nancy swears I'm only the third baby she's ever held in her life, but I think she must be mistaken; she's a pro!
After my Bingham debut was a visit from soccer super star Roseann. She and Mama play on a team together, but Roseann is headed to England for the next year, so I won't be able to cheer her on. Oh! But I almost forgot! She's going to play on a soccer team with BOTH my moms in the Festival of the Babes tournament this Labor Day Weekend. More on that when it comes, but I've heard that it will be one craaaazy weekend! Roseann is pretty groovy, and she and her mom made me the most BEAUTIFUL quilt ever (it's the one that I shared with all the boys when they came to visit).
Next is just a gratuitous shot of me on my changing table with these killer moccasins that my neighbors, Bill and Pamela, gave me. My neighbors are pretty hip; they live in Santa Fe most of the time and know all about moccasins. I think they really make my outfit.
Ok, back on track. After Roseann's visit I got paid a very special visit from Jonah and his parents. Jonah has been living abroad for the past year---every month in a new country! He's already such a world traveler, and he shared with me some tips on how to make nice with the flight attendants. Jonah's dad and Mama went to high school together and have been friends ever since. We were kind of hoping they'd move back to their place in Palo Alto once they finished their world tour, but it turns out Jonah's dad is a PIP (pretty important person). He's just been named the DIRECTOR OF DEMOCRACY in the Obama Administration! Holy responsibility!! I'm not really sure what the Director of Democracy does (my moms aren't sure, either), but it sure does SOUND important! The only downside is that Jonah and his parents will be living all the way across the country for awhile. That's ok; I have high hopes that they'll be back in a few years when Jonah can tell me all about his adventures in Washington, D.C.
This last photo is me with my friend, Liane. My moms used to be neighbors with Liane, but they still hang out every chance they get. This rendez vous was so they could all go eat chilaquiles at some place up the street. I think I like chilaquiles, though I'll have to tell Mama to hold off on the hot sauce next time. YOWZA!
And finally, my last day in SF before I head east has been pretty great. I got to go to brunch this morning with my main man, Eli, and another little guy with two moms, William. William was born 4 days before me, but he has got A LOT more hair than I think I'll ever have, and he has definitely packed on more pounds than I have. I'd better start eating more! Tonight I'm headed out to dinner with Grandpa David so he can see me one last time before I go away for the month.
Stay tuned for stories from my first plane flight, my first meeting with the east coast family, and my baptism (yikes!).
until then, fine friends...
